Interview with Micaela CARENZO, Regulatory Affairs Specialist for the LATAM zone at Agrauxine by Lesaffre, who joined the company in April 2022.
Can you tell us more about your role and day-to-day tasks at Agrauxine by Lesaffre?
My role is to register Agrauxine by Lesaffre products in the various Latin American countries, in order to obtain authorization and market access.
I'm mainly responsible for understanding the legislation in each country so as to be able to meet registration requirements and present technical files for products meeting the required criteria.
At the same time, I keep records up to date and monitor any changes that might affect current regulations.
What do you see as the main challenges and opportunities in the LATAM region?
The main opportunities arise through our customers in each country, who in many cases are responsible for preparing and submitting registrations, right through to marketing and distribution.
The challenges are linked to the different regulations of the countries in the LATAM region and their governmental authorities. Although similarities can be found in certain procedures and requirements, each country has its own particularities when it comes to approaching and assessing them.
Can you tell us more about regulatory affairs in the LATAM region?
Within the LATAM region, there are both highly regulated countries and countries that have direct access to the market without the need for prior registration. In other words, there is no harmonization in the region, which means that we have to adapt to the specific situation of each country.
Can you think of any contribution you're particularly proud of since joining Agrauxine by Lesaffre?
I'm very happy to be part of Agrauxine by Lesaffre and to be able to contribute my experience to the LATAM region. I'm proud to have obtained a large number of authorizations, and I hope to obtain many more.
On the other hand, I've had the opportunity to explore and integrate new territories into the region, which has been a great learning experience that I'm also proud of.
