Read the testimonial from Christophe BONNIN, winegrower in Mazères (33). Area treated Esquive® WP 15 ha
What are your main problems in terms of wood diseases and their consequences (technical, economic and quality) on your vineyards?
ESCA and BDA (Black Dead Arm) cause considerable damage to my plots, particularly through mortality. I estimate the loss of vines at around 1% per year. The AOC imposes a fixed density of plus or minus 10%, so I can't afford any loss of density.
Why did you decide to try Esquive® WP? How long have you been using it and on what surfaces?
I've decided to use Esquive® WP to continue the fight against ESCA. I first tried it 12 years ago when it was developed. I'm now up to 15 ha treated every year.
How do you use it (method of application, type of sprayer, etc.) and when do you use it in relation to the pruning operation?
I apply the product with a 300-liter sprayer with 4 mounted jets that spray all the pruning wounds. For smaller plots, I use a quad with 2 nozzles per side. I spray in the evening after pruning, within a maximum of 48 hours, so as not to leave the pruning wounds unprotected for too long.
What are the results observed in the plot in terms of symptoms, vine mortality and yield? Any visual differences?
Every year, I have much less mortality, around 30-50% less. In my vineyards, I'm seeing far fewer leaf symptoms of ESCA/BDA. So that's conclusive.
Do you have any questions, remarks or comments about the product, its use, its benefits, etc.?
I'm very satisfied with Esquive® WP. When I started out, I had to adapt the plot of my pruning site to be able to treat the pruned part on the same day. Today, this has become a habit for me and my team.
