As part of SIVAL in Angers, the Euroviti symposium focused on vine decline and wood diseases. During this colloquium, Patricia Letousey, our biocontrol R&D manager, presented the Advantage project, a collaborative project on wood diseases, conducted since July 2015 with 9 public and private players.
The RiBP laboratory of the University of Reims, IFV, UMR SAVE of INRA Bordeaux, Agrauxine by Lesaffre, Bayer and Mercier Frères have tested 9 solutions based on micro-organisms, natural substances or chemical substances against wood diseases, to assess their potential effectiveness in terms of preventive protection. These substances, tested alone or in combination with our Esquive WP solution, were tested throughout the production of a vine, in vitro and then in planta under controlled conditions, ending with applications in the nursery and vineyard.
A yeast derivative and 1 bacterium for better use
Halfway through the project, 5 solutions were selected to evaluate their effects in combination with Esquive WP and obtain a better efficacy of this solution. In particular, the tests show a better efficacý of combination with 1 bacterium and the other with yeast derivatives.
Field trials were carried out in 2018 and 2019 with these 2 combinations. If the results are positive, new biocontrol solutions will be proposed to effectively combat wood diseases.
